Choosing an insurance company with good customer service means you’ll be able to reach a live person when you need to file a claim. Choosing a provider with good customer service can make all the difference in how satisfied you are with your policy, and these companies rank at the top:

  • Shelter Insurance
  • NJM Insurance Group

Companies with accident forgiveness programs

Accidents can happen to anyone. If you’re a good driver, you don’t want to be punished for making one mistake. Many insurance companies offer accident forgiveness programs that account for this. Below are some examples of companies with accident forgiveness programs.

  • Allstate: Drivers can add Allstate’s Accident Forgiveness coverage to their policy so that their insurance premium doesn’t increase due to an at-fault accident.

  • Erie Insurance: Erie offers First Accident Forgiveness to drivers who have been with Erie for three or more years.

  • Farmers: Drivers’ auto premiums won’t increase due to an at-fault accident for every three years they drive without one with Farmers Smart Plan Auto policy.

  • Nationwide: In select states, drivers can purchase Accident Forgiveness through Nationwide and potentially avoid an insurance rate increase after their first at-fault accident.

  • Progressive: Progressive offers three accident forgiveness programs. Small Accident Forgiveness is available through the Loyalty Rewards Program and is automatically applied to most new customer insurance policies. Large Accident Forgiveness is available through the Loyalty Rewards Program and rewarded to drivers who’ve been with Progressive for at least five years without an accident or violation. Progressive Accident Forgiveness is available to purchase.

  • Shelter Insurance: Shelter doesn’t raise drivers’ insurance premiums after an accident if they’ve been accident-free for five years.

  • Travelers: Drivers who qualify can add accident forgiveness to their car insurance policy. Travelers Responsible Driver Plan forgives one accident and one minor violation over a specified period that may protect drivers from a premium increase.

  • Western National: Western National has a Penalty-Free Promise® that states drivers never have to pay a higher rate due to accidents or moving violations (i.e., speeding).

What is the cheapest car insurance for good drivers?

The cheapest car insurance for good drivers depends on various factors, such as the state where you live and the car you drive. Our tool considers your driver profile, including your driving record, when providing you with rate estimates and matching you with the best insurance carriers for your profile. Take our short quiz to find the cheapest car insurance based on your profile and preferences.

What is the most important insurance a driver can have?

There are multiple coverage types available for drivers. For example, collision insurance covers repairs to the policyholder’s vehicle in the event of an accident. Comprehensive insurance covers damages caused by weather, theft, or vandalism. And medical payments coverage helps pay for medical bills incurred by the policyholder and their passengers in the event of an accident. Ultimately, the best type of insurance for any given driver depends on their individual needs and circumstances. However, all drivers should carry at least the minimum insurance required by their state to protect themselves financially in the event of an accident.

What car insurance is considered the best?

The best car insurance companies depend on your driver profile and unique needs. When shopping for car insurance coverage, consider a company’s price, customer service ratings and good driver discounts to determine the best overall option for you.
